Computational Design Gallerbee Concept for Exhibition Design Parametric Design

Preliminary research Gallerbee

In exhibition design and experience design, the subject is leading and the design is supporting. Based on this philosophy, a parametric approach is appropriate: namely, a strategy in which data from the objects determines what the design looks like by means of algorithms. This could be, for example, a graphical timeline generated automatically from the database, or a number of walls that automatically grow or shrink in the planning phase depending on the layout by the curator, a light show that reacts to data from the database about an artist’s life, or automatically generate wall results with a hanging plan.…Continue readingPreliminary research Gallerbee

Grasshopper game: DragRace with Firebase

When teaching Grasshopper, it is sometimes nice to take a slightly different approach. For example in the form of a game. DragRace is about uploading scores to an online database and trying to win with the fastest score!Continue readingGrasshopper game: DragRace with Firebase

Teaching in the Corona era

My brilliant colleagues at TU Delft were faced with the challenge of switching a subject for hundreds of students to 100% online education in just a few days. With their experience in the gaming world, they came up with the idea to apply Discord in education. Discord is an all-in-one voice and text chat for gamers.Continue readingTeaching in the Corona era

eCAADe Workshop

Together with Serdar Aşut and Jerzy Latka StudioFG organized an eCAADe workshop. Design Express / Vectorworks sponsored the event financially and provided the Marionette software (part of Vectorworks). Using a flexmold and PETG panels we created double curved panels. Sponsor: Design Express / Vectorworks. Conference: eCAADe 2018 This 360 video shows the end of the workshop where the participants are hanging the lamps as an ornament on the ceiling. Best viewed in VR / on your phone in the Youtube app: More photos of the project:Continue readingeCAADe Workshop

Computational design pavilion with the TU Delft

With great pleasure we again teach the course Technoledge in which we realize a pavilion together with master students of TU Delft and PWR Wroclaw from design to realization in 7 weeks. The basis for the production is the parametrically controllable flexmould.Continue readingComputational design pavilion with the TU Delft

Design and realization 60 m showcase

Commissioned by XPEX Amsterdam, StudioFG collaborated in the design and realization of on of the longest display cases in the Netherlands for a hand made 60-meter carpet. More about the project: Stichting de Flevowand StudioFG also provided the renderings for the project. The total display case eventually had a length of 60 meters and was realized as an oval. The integrated lighting contributed to the impressive experience that surrounds the visitor.Continue readingDesign and realization 60 m showcase
